Back to School Picnic
Each year the Clinton FFA Boosters provide a meal for the back to school picnic. This meeting is open to current and potential FFA members and their families. It's the first chance to meet the Clinton FFA Officer team and to get information about upcoming events. Typically we sell past years' Clinton FFA merchandise.
Apple & Pork Festival
The Apple ‘n Pork Festival at the DeWitt County Museum is an annual event that celebrates the rich history and traditions of the local community. The Clinton FFA Boosters run a food stand at the Dewitt County 4H Fairgrounds. FFA members help serve the food and conduct flag-raising and lowering ceremonies daily.
Livestock Judging Contests
Participants in the Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event will develop the ability to select market and breeding-type livestock that will meet the needs of the industry. The event requires students to judge and evaluate market animals, evaluate keep-cull classes based on production and type, and grade cattle on USDA quality grades and cutability. Participants will present oral reasons.
Middle School Conference
2023 was the first year the Illinois Association FFA hosted a Middle School Conference. This conference is specific to 7th and 8th Grade FFA members. It was hosted at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL. Students learned a new line dance, explored the various areas of agriculture, completed team-building challenges with the state officers, experienced simulators & witnessed a sprayer drone in action.

Mum Festival
Triple M Farms: Mariah's Mums & More hosts a mum festival each year. At this festival patrons can purchase mums and other items from near and far vendors. The Clinton FFA Boosters run a food stand and some of the Clinton FFA members help with the concessions. Clinton FFA also directs traffic in the parking lot on both days of the event. See more information about this year's event by clicking on the link above.
Horse Judging CDE
Participants will use knowledge and interest in equine science to evaluate conformation traits and performance of horses. The event includes halter and performance classes. Participants registered in the Reasons Division will present oral reasons.
Public Speaking Contest
Clinton hosts the Section 16 Public Speaking Contest. This contest consists of three main categories: Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Prepared Public Speaking, and Creed Speaking. Below are descriptions of each contest and links to the State and National Rules.
Extemporaneous
Public Speaking
Students participating in the Extemporaneous Public Speaking Leadership Development Event showcase their agricultural knowledge and ability to think on their feet by giving a speech and answering questions with limited prep time. This event challenges students to practice their presentation skills, articulation, and logical thinking and advocate for agriculture and agricultural education.
Prepared Public Speaking
During the Prepared Public Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE), students write and deliver a six to eight-minute speech about a current agriculture-related topic. Students research a topic of interest and then put together a creative, informative speech. The speech is then presented to a panel of judges, who score the student based on the speech’s content, composition and delivery.
Creed Speaking
Homecoming Float
Each year Clinton FFA creates a Homecoming Float. FFA members ride it in the Homecoming Parade while we pass out candy and promote our organization to the community, as well as provide information about how to become involved in the Clinton FFA Boosters.
Dairy Foods CDE
Participants in the Dairy Foods Career Development Event will focus on areas of milk quality and consumer demand. The event components will include identifying conditions that affect fluid milk off-flavors and determining the cause of the problem; identifying and scoring milk samples using the California Mastitis Test; identifying dairy and nondairy products; participating in a team problem that will solve a selected situation relating to sanitation, marketing, and distribution or other issues in the dairy health area; completing a written examination on milk production, quality, and milk marketing; and identifying cheeses
FFA Week
Each year, FFA chapters around the country celebrate National FFA Week. It’s a time to share what FFA is and the impact it has on members every day. This year FFA Week will be celebrated on February 17th -24th, 2024.

CJHS Celebrates FFA Week with daily dress up themes, tie-dye night, a collection drive and trivia. Each year the Leadership team plans and coordinated the activities that will occur throughout the week. Participation in FFA week is for all CJHS students and staff. It is a great way to promote what we do in FFA at the Junior High Level.
This Career Development Event is open to students in 7th, 8th or 9th grade. Participants are expected to recite the FFA Creed from memory. They are then asked a series of questions to assess their understanding and knowledge of the Creed.
